Video Games Live, or better known as VGL, has just announced that it will be organising a regional cosplay competition, VGLKLGAMEON, where cosplayers are welcomed to seize the winning title as well as the new face of VGL 2015 Malaysia.

In order to take part in this competition, you just need to head to the contest microsite on http://11pass11.com and submit pictures of yourself in your favourite video game character. All submissions will be judged by the organiser’s panel of judges as forty finalists are selected for the first selection round.

The second round will see twenty finalists compete at the final stage during VGL 2015 Malaysia concert on 29 August. The top three winners will be announced at the end of the concert, walking away with cash prizes worth up to RM10,000 in total.

“The whole idea of costume play or cosplay, is that it serves as a creative outlet – it is not merely costuming, but a very unique form of performance art. It is widely associated with comic books, anime and video games. It has become such a massive subculture within the mainstream world at this point that it is essentially synonymous with the idea of a convention or a gathering of individuals who share the same cosplay interest. And that’s what VGL is all about – the celebration of the world of gaming and music,” said Leslie Jeyam, Director of 11To11 Events during the press conference.

During the press conference, there was also a mini cosplay showcase from well-known games such as the Final Fantasy series and Dota 2, as well as another Square Enix game – Kingdom Hearts.
