Leaked benchmarks of the upcoming overclockable Core i3 Kaby Lake CPU indicate that the chip will faster than some current gen i5 CPUs! The i3 7350K, which will be able to reach clock speeds of 4.2GHz before even being meddled with, has been benchmarked on Geekbench. It attained a single core score of 5137 and a multi core score of 10048. While that alone is a significant jump in performance when compared to the current i3 chips, the real surprise is that it’s more powerful than the existing i5 chips, like the i5 6500.
More good news. Since Kaby Lake is uses the same LGA 1151 socket as Skylake, you won’t need to upgrade your motherboard or RAM to upgrade your processor! Kaby Lake desktop processors are expected in early 2017.
