Unifi Disruption Caused By Rats Claims TM

Folks in Sibu, Tanjung Manis, Sri Aman and Bintangor in East Malaysia are having a torrid time with their internet connection provided by Unifi. After a series of disruption couple days back the technical team at Telekoms were busy over the weekend with another alert.

While the cause of downtime before was due to cable theft (not sure why thief’s are stealing fibre cables) this time around the technicians reported signs of cables being bitten, possibly by rats or other vermin’s. Netizens were quick to comment on social media wondering how rats could get into conduits buried deep in the ground, some were even sarcastic with the sighting of wolf’s near the cables. Both broadband and voice were affected during this period.

There were also reported loss of connection in Penang during the two days break. However, the cables have been repaired and connection resumed to all affected areas today.
