So the long awaited Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (Sp3) finally had been given the green light to roll out into the Malaysian market. This is timely as the Malaysia launch is just a few short days away. To prepare you for the moment you’ve been waiting for, we took the liberty of unboxing an SP3, which arrived at our doorstep with the SP3 Type Cover (woot!) for you to see.
*SPOILER ALERT!*
Firstly, let’s check out the box. Seems non-descript enough with the box splitting into two parts. The original sliding mechanism to release the device from within is still in use.
Now here we are – the SP3. Looks imposing eventhough the guys at Microsoft claims this is the slimmest Surface to-date.
Underneath the slate is, of course, the digitiser stylus/pen – all new and improved. Batteries included (1x AAA and 2x watch battery types). Setting up is pretty straightforward: unscrew the pen and slip in the AAA, tighten it back. Presto!
Next to the primary holding area is the slim box cover where the power adapter, which is equally as tiny, resides.
Of course, this unboxing wouldn’t be complete without the same treatment being given to the Type Cover (Mk III). Now this is simple enough – hardy keys and a slightly larger touchpad will greet users soon as it is taken out of the box.
Now here’s the fun part: docking the two together is a real breeze and the solid ‘thunk’ sound makes for great effect that the keyboard is all good to go.
Turning the SP3 on is simple enough. Touch the top button and it boots up immediately. Straightaway, the Type Cover lights up and before we could even admire the sight, the callout screen to sync the Pen with the Sp3 appeared. Wow! One quick tap, another couple of minutes to sign in, and we’re all set to roll.
