U Mobile has kicked-off yet another ground talent search campaign with the launch of the U Mobile Campus Grooves Challenge 2019! This follows the success of U Mobile’s Mobile Legends Campus Championship, the biggest on ground eSports campus event in 2019, spanning 22 campuses nationwide in search of the best Mobile Legends team in Malaysia. This time, they’re scouring the country for the most talented individuals or teams, to battle it out in the U Mobile Campus Grooves Challenge 2019.
The U Mobile Campus Grooves Challenge 2019 is a talent competition that will span across 22 campuses nationwide, with the grand finale pencilled in for the 29th of February 2020. With a prize pool of more than RM20,000 in cash, the Campus Grooves Challenge 2019 is the perfect opportunity for students who love singing or dancing to unleash the star within and perhaps even unearth a hidden talent or two.
The first leg of the Campus Grooves roadshow kicked-off at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya and offered so much more than expected to the students. The event was jam packed with fun activities for the entire campus! Students were spoilt for choice with a plethora of interactive mini-games such as Guess The Song, a Wii Dance Battle, Shoot The Cans and the brain teasing Unlock The Box Challenge, where students cracked their heads attempting to crack the code to win Ultimate Ears speakers worth RM399.
The eventual winner of the Unlock The Box Challenge was Yam Chee Kan, a 22 year old student of Design in Creative Media who, in his own words, is constantly on his phone unlocking puzzles and sudokus. It looks like all that time he spent on solving them has finally paid off!
With so much going on to whet their appetites for the main event, participation for the U Mobile Campus Grooves Challenge was through the roof! Many students were making a beeline to battle it out for the title of campus champion, however there could only be one winner in the end.
Coming in at first place was Taylor’s Yu, with a group acapella performance of their chosen song “Never Enough” that blew the judges away. They walked home with a cash prize of RM500 and an exclusive golden ticket to the grand finals for a chance to add one more 0 to their winnings and pocket the grand prize of RM5,000 cash.
The next stop on the U Mobile Campus Grooves Challenge calendar is INTI Nilai, followed by UKM Bangi. So if you’re a student at these universities or know anyone who studies there with hidden talents, you know what to do.
