As Anime Expo 2018 reaches a close, Bandai Namco also concludes its presentation with some big surprises for its anime fans. The company reveals an English release of Tokyo Ghoul: re CALL to EXIST for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
Previously, Bandai Namco only announced the game for PlayStation 4 in Japan. But it looks like Bandai Namco is giving PC a chance to shine now. No news as to whether Japan will also get a PC version, but there’s little doubt that PC availability appeals more to the international audience.
Tokyo Ghoul: re CALL to EXIST will be a third-person survival action game. The game sets its premise firmly in the world of Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re. Being based on the dark fantasy manga from Sui Ishida, you can expect the same atmosphere of gory violence and frenetic action.
Still, it doesn’t look like you’ll play as the series’ protagonist Ken Kaneki. Instead, the game heavily features an online component, which you’ll see in the trailer. Indeed, players will fight each other head on as part of two factions, either Ghouls or Investigators. Ghouls eat humans in the guise of humans, while Investigators hunt down Ghouls using special weapons. Apart from these large battles, the game will also feature co-op battles to survive with friends.
A release date wasn’t given, but the game might make to our shores next year, considering Japan’s winter release and the time needed for a localisation.
