TM Confirms Speed Increase For Unifi Home Users

In a follow up with the Prime Ministers announcement at the recent Budget 2017 on increasing the broadband speeds but not the price, Telekom Malaysia held a press conference supporting the call and shared its plans to initiate the roll-out.

Under the Broadband Improvement Plan, TM’s Home customers will be enjoying higher broadband speeds at a better value, Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Group CEO welcomed the announcement and is fully supportive of the initiatives to further upgrade nationwide broadband.

The average broadband speeds for residential UniFi customers will be doubled at the same price, eligible customers nationwide will begin enjoying the upgrades in stages, starting from January 2017 onwards and will receive notifications starting end of the year. In addition fixed broadband prices has also been indicated to come down within the next two years based on the budget announcement, to kick start TM will be introducing new value broadband package sometime soon.

Currently, the GLC has over 900,000 who are on high speed packages with more than 60%  of broadband customers are on packages of 4Mbps and above, while approximately 68% are on packages of 10Mbps and above. Streamyx users comprises of the majority with 1.4 million.
