With the easing of the MCO, Malaysia is currently in Phase 5 of the tactical Covid 19 battle, the Conditional Movement Control Order began on May 3 and its already been a week. Under the CMCO, most businesses are allowed to operate except for those involve close contact, like hairdressers, cinemas, entertainment centres and spas.
The easing does come with SOP’s which is mandatory for everyone to adhere; individuals are encouraged to wear masks in public spaces, sanitisers must be provided at premises and keeping at least 1 metre distance from each other. Ever since the opening up of the economy, three premises have been temporarily ordered shut after some workers were found to have contracted COVID-19. Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the three premises involve a chicken processing factory in Negeri Sembilan, a supermarket in Selangor and a construction site in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
This comes after an outbreak were reported in these premises, according to the Health Ministry most of the cases involved foreign workers. A shopping mall in Cheras was another case that had infections among its security guards who mainly comprised of Nepali’s. Authorities have since conduct screenings on all workers after which the premise will also be sanitised and disinfected.
A total of 3,713 supermarkets, 3,073 restaurants, 1,244 factories, 1,705 banks, 713 land transport terminals, 87 water and 111 public air transport terminals have been inspected, said the Minister.
