After the Nintendo NES Classic Mini swept the world, more companies are starting to push out nostalgic-themed products to the modern market. Case in point, Bandai. They have just announced that the annoying-yet-lovable pet simulation device, Tamagotchi, will be re-issued as it was released over 20 years ago.

Bandai just launched the new Tamagotchi in Japan, through Amazon.co.jp. While the product has gone through re-invention, upgrades and overhauls, the new version is back to the black & white screen, where you control a digital pet, and cater to all of its needs and requirements. The biggest difference here is that the new Tamagotchi are half the size of the originals from two decades ago.

There is a catch with the new toy though – it is only available in Japan, and it costs ¥2,000 (or about RM 90) each. We may see the Retro Tamagotchi appear in Malaysian stores soon – but if you have anyone heading to Japan, perhaps you want to ask them to pick one up? For nostalgic sake?
