Picture this; You’re in Paris, taking a long romantic walk down the canal, hand in hand with your partner, the love of your life. You sit at the foot of the river Seine and admire the Eiffel Tower in all its glory. You think to yourself, this is the perfect moment. The girl of your dreams against a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower on a starry night. Could there be anything more romantic than this? ‘This scene could be from a romantic movie, but instead, it’s real life!’ you conclude. Clearly satisfied with yourself, you reach into your pocket and take out your Huawei P30, equipped with Periscope lens and superzoom capabilities. Ah, bliss!!!
“Thank you Huawei for capturing this magical moment!!!!!” you declare into the mic as the slideshow on the big screen displays that magical photo to everyone present on your wedding night. You then cut your cake, in the shape of the Huawei logo of course, the least you could do in return for such a top notch shot as the night fades out in sweet drunken camaraderie. Huawei has done it again!
With the launch of the Huawei P30 less than a day away, it’s safe to say they’re getting rather excited about it, and so am I! They’ve hyped it quite well, I must say. I find myself thinking about the phone at least twice a day now, on top of every single time I look at the moon. The phone is rumoured to have an even better camera than both of the current flagship Pro models in their line up, which to be fair to them, is no small feat.
Thanks to Huawei’s uncanny ability to turn anything into news, we all know that the global launch is set to happen in Paris later today. What we didn’t know however, is when exactly the phone will be reaching our shores. Thanks to the first real piece of news they’ve released in weeks, we now know that we could potentially be getting the phone on the same date as Singapore, April 6th.
I don’t really know for sure. No one knows, probably. The press release literally says:
“Following news that the device will be made available in Singapore on 6 April, it is now certain that Malaysia’s will not be too far off.”
It is now certain that Malaysia’s will not be too far off?
Even when they release something news worthy, they leave us with more questions than answers. Ah, the mark of great marketing.
Speaking of great marketing, Huawei is also looking to reward those who purchase the P30 series early with one unit of HUAWEI Backup— basically a 1TB external hard drive solution which can be used to automatically or manually backup data on your smartphone. Can’t really complain about the gift, it’s legitimately useful. However, if you’re interested in winning this great reward, you’ll… have to stay tuned for the details.. that will be released.. shortly.
At this point, you’ve got to hand it to Huawei. They’ve stuck to their guns even as it becomes increasingly obvious that they’ve based their marketing strategy off one of the many “7 ways to hype your new product” listicles they found on the internet. Hey, if it works then why not right?
Stay tuned for the launch of the P30, streamed live from Paris, at 9pm later today.
