Seems all is really for naught with the Google PlayStore, because another app with malware was found on at least half a million users around the world. The latest threat is named after the iconic Batman villain, The Joker, and it was found on a total of 24 Android Apps. The apps were downloaded and installed more than 472,000 times, but it’s unclear how many users were affected, and are still at risk.
These apps have been removed from the app store, but if you have any of the apps installed below, we recommend deleting it as soon as possible:

The malware was discovered by security researcher, Aleksejs Kuprins, and the virus works where it’s intended to leech money out of victims via premium subscription services. It simulates the process a user would undergo to signup, and silently ‘clicks’ on an ad within the app, and does the same for the sign up process when on the site. It is then able to access the victim’s SMS messages, copying the authorization code they’ve been sent, and verifies the subscription payments.
Man, malware is getting scarier by the day.
