If a name is anything to go by when purchasing a smartphone, many would give Doogee a pass, too many vowels and resembling a rapper from the Bronx, this is not a typical christening. But then again, we are living in a world of globalisation, products from any continent can be found and bought and they might not have a catchy name either. So, who are we to judge!

Doggee launched their first smartphone last March, Doogee Y200, and now in introducing a mid range successor the Y300 targeted at youths and those who are looking for an affordable alternative. The smartphone looks okay for the price tag, Corning Glass for the back and front panel, aluminium frame, light weight and comes with a large screen for video binging  moments.

Sporting a 5-Inch capacitive IPS screen does help the cause for this device, couple that with a 64-bit Mediatek MT6735 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 Quad Core processor and a Mali-T720 GPU with 2GB of RAM, this is a winner.

Camera wise, there is a 13MP Sony IMX219 rear camera with a LED flash support for low light shooting. The 5 megapixel front-facing camera is sufficient for self indulgence. To keep all these functioning well during the use is a non-removable 2200 mAh lithium-ion battery. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, dual sim and supports 4G LTE. If that isn’t a good enough reason to buy the phone, than what could be…the name?

Doogee Y300 is now available in Malaysia with the retail price of RM599 and comes in three color options: black, white and gold.
