Team PTSB E-Sport From Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah Crowned Season 2 National Champion In Biggest Online Mobile Legends Campus Tournament For Year 2020

U Mobile’s Mobile Legends Campus Championship Season 2 has crowned team PTSB E-Sport of Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah as its National Champion after 5 gruelling months of fully virtual tournament. Team PTSB E-Sport managed to earn its place as the National Champion after winning over 15 state winners nationwide.

The Grand Finals that were held on the weekend, 19 & 20 December 2020, casted by celebrity casters, Ikuto & ChuChu, has more than 96,700 viewers that tuned into the livestream for the exciting match.

The UMMLCC S2 saw a bigger team participation, with 277 teams from 105 campuses nationwide from all 14 states in Malaysia, made this tournament as the most extensive e-Sport campaign ever held for Campus students with many already voicing their interest and looking forward for Season 3 campaign from U Mobile.

Mimi Wong, Head of Segment Marketing & Activation of U Mobile said “For MLCC S2, we are supposed to continue on-ground campus tournament. However, as we face the challenge of Covid-19, the tournament was then converted to an online campaign.   

U Mobile continues to strive to develop e-Sports interest for the Youth segment and to ensure they have an outlet to showcase their inner talent whilst cultivating the new gamers.  We have gotten massive response to continue with UM MLCC S3, of which, we will tell everyone, like our U Mobile MLCC S2 Facebook and watch out for the upcoming good news!”

For this tournament, U Mobile has sponsored RM 75,000 prize pool which is regarded as one of the biggest total winning for a campus tournament. Team PTSB E-Sport as the National Champion, walks away with a whopping cash prize of RM 10,000! On top of it, they will also get 5 Netgear Nighthawk XR500 worth RM 7,412.45, and 5,520 diamonds sponsored by Moonton.

To sweeten the winning as National Champion, team PTSB E-Sport will also get the opportunity to receive a 1-1 live coaching with Artha from Team SMG! Looks like their gaming passion will be heading to professional in the near future.

On winning the grand prize, Team PTSB E-Sport had this to say, “We’d like to thank U Mobile for giving us this opportunity to fight and represent our University. Every team fought hard and it was really fun. Thank you to our friends and family for supporting us all the way!”.

Victory did not come easy, with the teams put to the test with each state going all out. Fans and student supporters kept the teams going throughout the 13 of streams. Team PTSB E-Sport took a total of 2 Victories to keep Team PBU Terbang from clinching the victory from them.

Apart from the live action during the finals, viewers were treated with a Pantun challenge activity, which our Celebrity Caster, Ikuto, started spontaneously during the State tournament round. The pantun challenge had massive responses with some hilarious and comical comments by students which was read out by our casters, engaging the viewers throughout the tournament. 10 lucky winners were selected to get 400 diamonds for the most creative pantun.

Aside from the tournament, MLCC S2 did a caster talent search with the winner, Frost from Cosmopoint College Johor Bahru, gets to join the stage with Ikuto, to host one of the matches.  He later admitted that he was ecstatic and it was a dream came through to be able to cast with Ikuto. He will never forget this once in a lifetime opportunity and thanking U Mobile for having the talent search competition.

U Mobile, together with Mobile Legends, has managed to cap the year with this amazing tournament despite Covid-19 pandemic, keeping students and fans occupied throughout the months. U Mobile wishes to congratulate all students throughout Malaysia for their participation and making this tournament a success! Once again, a big “well-done”, goes out to the National Champion.
