A total of 32 teams and over 200 attendees were gathered for this weekend’s Taiwan Excellence E-sports Cup (TEEC) 9th Tournament Qualifier. This time, the teams were competing under three main e-sports titles: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), DotA 2 and League Of Legends. Non-competing attendees on the other hand were treated to an entertaining DotA 2 – 1v1 matchup. Winners were selected for specific criteria including first kill, first tower taken, and many more.
The TEEC tournament was launched in April earlier this year, in collaboration with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade (MOEA) as an initiative to engage with Malaysians through community events such as e-sports, to further the introduction of technological advancements and consumer product exports.
One of the highlights of the event was the showcase of the Predator Triton 900 laptop, equipped with a 360 degree rotating display. Priced at RM15,999 the laptop boasts a six-core 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 4K IPS LCD display which resulted in attendees queuing for their turn at the product.

The final LAN qualifier will begin on September 7 at Battle Arena, Petaling Jaya where the Taiwan Excellence Esports Cup qualifying series will end. The grand finals will happen at Berjaya Times Square, October 11-13. The champions of CS: GO, DotA 2 and League of Legends will win RM10,000 each, and the winning team for the CS: GO category will further receive a golden ticket to Taiwan to battle with four other countries, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and India for a US$2,000 grand prize.
