Sunway’s Parody Campaign Using Muyhiddin’s Quote Is a Big Success!

During MCO, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin comes on national television and proceeds to give long speeches on the need for another extension of the lockdown, during that  time many viewers observed the casual conversation the PM has and often using the phrase ‘kesana kesini’ during the sessions. Creative Malaysians took the phrase and made it into a viral videos, which eventually caught on becoming one of the more entertaining moment at that time.

Taking the phrase and turning it into a travel domestic campaign was a clever move by Sunway City, the operator of various theme parks and holiday destinations in the country. The Sunway“Ke Sana Ke Sini Ke Sunway” domestic tourism campaign has been a total success, recording sales of more than 10,000 room night stays, with 5,000 room night stays which were sold within the first 72 hours of the launch.

The campaign was launched on July 6  in tandem with the government’s reopening of tourism sectors and interstate travel. The campaign will end on July 20.

Packages are being offered at 70% discount starting from RM499 from the normal price of RM1,599 for a two-night stay at Sunway Pyramid Hotel for two adults and two children, entrance tickets to Sunway Lagoon for two adults and two children, and welcome treats and Family Fun Activity vouchers worth RM200 from Sunway Pyramid.

Since the campaign’s launch, Sunway Pyramid Hotel has registered a booking occupancy of 80% an indication on the pent up demand for holidaying. So as to paraphrase what Muyhiddin said, instead of  wondering to go here or there (kesana or kesini) why not just Ke Sunway.
