Sunway College has once again proven its standing as a powerhouse in education, securing an impressive total of 23 awards at the 2023 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards Ceremony. The ceremony, held recently, celebrated the accomplishments of outstanding students, with Sunway College emerging as the most successful Cambridge provider in Malaysia.
Among the accolades earned by Sunway College’s GCE A-Level programme students were First Place in Malaysia, Top in Malaysia, High Achievement, and the prestigious Top in the World. Cheng Kai Xuan claimed the First Place in Malaysia for best across three subjects, while Kelvin Ng Kah Kit achieved the First Place in Malaysia for best across four, in addition to securing Top in the World for Mathematics and Top in Malaysia for Further Mathematics.
An impressive twelve students, Chen Wei Yuen, Cheong Ruoh Kai, Gerald Lau Jin Yang, Leanne Tee Jie Ern, Lee Jun Yuan, Lim Zi Yong, Loong Yue Yen, Ong Zhi Hsuen, Ong Zhun Hao, Tan Yik Xian, Tan Zen Yii, and Wong Yit Jet, achieved the esteemed Top in the World for Mathematics, solidifying Sunway College’s reputation for nurturing top-tier talent.
Reflecting on the achievement, a student named Cheong expressed gratitude for the college’s dedicated lecturers, describing them as knowledgeable, experienced, supportive, and enthusiastic. “The lecturers in Sunway College’s A-Level programme are truly wonderful. They are knowledgeable, experienced, supportive, and most importantly, enthusiastic in what they do,” says Cheong.
Top in Malaysia titles were awarded to Lim Yi Ning and Jessica Gan Yee Mei for Psychology, Yeow Mun Hung for Accounting, Chia Yin Qi for Biology, Liew Er Jun for Chemistry, and Aishath Anaa Sobah for History. Liew Zi Xian received the High Achievement award for Thinking Skills.
Lauding Sunway College’s emphasis on holistic development, student Liew shared that the institution’s focus on extracurricular activities and leadership roles contributed significantly to personal growth.
Despite the perceived academic challenges of the A-Level program, students like Lau view Sunway College as not just a center for rigorous learning but also as a nurturing environment for personal growth. Lau highlighted the positive and motivational atmosphere within the A-Level community, praising the accessibility of lecturers and the collaborative spirit among peers.
