Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) opened their MPL Malaysia Season 15 campaign with a commanding 2-0 sweep over Team Vamos (VMS), finishing Week 1 at the top of the standings.
The sold-out opener saw SRG Gold Laner, John “Innocent” Vincent Banal, clinch MVP honours after securing a historic Savage—five consecutive kills in a single play—marking the first time the feat has been achieved in an MPL Malaysia opening match.
SRG closed out Game 2 in just 11 minutes, extending their dominance over VMS, whom they also defeated in last season’s Grand Final.

Following their win, SRG were honoured by the Malaysia Book of Records for becoming the first Malaysian team to win the Esports World Cup x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 in Riyadh. The award was presented by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Adam Adli, who commended SRG’s partnership with OG Esports and praised its role in showcasing and nurturing local esports talent.
Elsewhere in Week 1, Homebois (HB) powered past AERO Esports 2-0, led by their new Indonesian EXP Laner, Kenley “Vell” Nathaniel Zefanya, who was named MVP with a KDA of 5/2/10.

Three-time champions Todak (TDK) were stunned 2-0 by Monster Vicious (MV), who once again lived up to their reputation as giant killers. MV had previously defeated SRG, VMS, and TDK during Season 14’s Regular Season.
SRG, HB, and MV ended Week 1 joint-top with three points each.
Week 2 action resumes from April 25 to 27, with SRG set to face MV in a high-stakes Day 3 clash between two current league leaders.
