PlayStation Experience SEA is returning this year. If you recall, 5th August 2017 celebrated South East Asia’s first ever PlayStation Experience (PSXSEA) event, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event was packed to the brim and featured various hands-on demos. It’s 2018 now, and PlayStation Asia has just announced the return of the popular event.

This is all we have for now. It’s a simple teaser to get everyone talking about the event, but details on time and location are still hush-hush. Even so, there are some things we can expect from #PSXSEA2018, at least based on last year.

Demos from E3 2018

Last year featured hands-on demos fresh from E3 2017. Games like Detroit: Become Human, Far Cry 5, Gran Turismo Sport, and more were on the floor for visitors to try. While all of these games are already out now, PSXSEA 2017 was the exclusive place for fans to get a sneak peek before their release dates. In that spirit, there’s a good chance that PSXSEA 2018 will return with the latest demos from this year’s E3. Some exciting prospects to think about would be Kingdom Hearts III, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Spider-Man, and more.

Game Stage Events

You can expect stage events to make a return. Last year’s was interesting as we saw a Capcom developer challenge local folks to a game of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Malaysian-bred Wan Hazmer was also there to discuss the inspirations behind Square Enix’s Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV. Since there weren’t exactly a flurry stage events to enjoy last year, it would be nice to see some added participation this time around.

Better Event Management

It goes without saying that Sony gravely underestimated the popularity of PSXSEA’s first event. The organisers chose a small venue and opted to waive entry fees. This resulted with an event that was well-executed on paper, but crumbled under the sheer ferocity of demand. Going forward, it wouldn’t be strange to see the inclusion of a larger venue and entrance fees to help curb the crowd. People are here to play games, after all.

You can expect PSXSEA 2018 to take place in early August like last year, but don’t be surprised if Sony pushes this back to coincide with Gamescom 2018. In any case, we’ll be waiting for further news with bated breath. For now, stay tuned to PlayStation Asia’s Facebook and Twitter.
