This would be the fastest release of a Sony smartphone after its debut in IFA Sony Mobiles preferred choice of venue to their flagship devices.
Sony Mobile Malaysia has sent out invitation for a 30th September local event on the launch of latest premium smartphone the Xperia XZ and X Compact within less than a month since showcasing in Berlin. PC.com had a first look of the device while we were at the trade show, the phones keeps the trademark candy-bar design with a mind blowing 23 megapixel. Sony touts the camera as a key selling point, we kinda think that the phone is a camera first than a phone, given the video and picture quality was pretty amazing.
Undeniably, past iteration did have considerable related issues that needed ironing out, but Sony is quick to admit on those problems especially on battery issues and disclaimers on its waterproof statement have been addressed. Nevertheless premium smartphones are struggling to meet their sales numbers with the proliferation of top feature phones in the mid range segment, soft economy and the weak ringgit. Exception however will be for Apple, rumour is for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is about to be released around mid October in Malaysia, this will definitely cause ripples for other brands contending in the same space, prices has to be 700-900 ringgit cheaper if anyone wants to take a bite-off, the Apple pie.
