Sony has announced the upcoming Malaysian release of its ECM-778 shotgun microphone and high-speed CFexpress Type A memory cards, with availability set for August 2025.

The ECM-778 microphone is designed for high-resolution mono audio recording in films, dramas, and documentaries. Weighing just 102g and measuring 176mm in length, it incorporates a new microphone capsule, brass acoustic tube, and precision circuit board to deliver sharp forward directivity and high-frequency clarity. It supports XLR-equipped devices and includes low-cut filtering and two types of wind screens to suit different environments.

Sony also introduced the CEA-G1920T (1920GB) and CEA-G960T (960GB) CFexpress Type A memory cards. Supporting the CFexpress 4.0 standard, they deliver read speeds of up to 1800MB/s and write speeds of up to 1700MB/s. These cards meet the VPG400 video performance guarantee, ensuring stable 400MB/s video recording. Built under Sony’s TOUGH specification, they offer enhanced durability, with resistance to drops, bends, water, dust, X-rays and UV.

Complementing the cards is the MRW-G3 CFexpress Type A card reader, which supports USB 40Gbps data transfers and features a heat dissipation design for reliable performance during large file transfers.

All new products will be available locally from August.
