If you thought making a decision between acquiring a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One was hard, Sony has since pushed the decision heavily into their favour with the introduction of the much-anticipated PlayStation 4 Pro with 4K imagery and a much slimmer and lighter version of the current PlayStation 4 that is 30% less in volume and 25% less in weight. Sony also brings forth two new accessories in the form of an all-new PlayStation 4 wireless controller and a new PlayStation Camera. For all current PlayStation users, it is time to make an upgrade.

Although the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro has yet to be announced, its official retail price is set at RM1,799 and is capable of delivering an enhanced overall gaming experience through its improved image processing capability while also supporting 4K images. Users with a 4K TV will now be able to enjoy all PS4 titles in much higher quality with 4K video resolution and faster or more stable frame rates. The PS4 Pro is also capable of supporting 4K video playback and even 4K video streaming through Netflix and YouTube, which are part and parcel of the PlayStation experience.

Users on HDTVs will also be able to enjoy a seamless and enhanced gaming experience on the PS4 Pro as it can deliver 1080p resolution for all PS4 game titles or higher and even a more stable and consistent frame rate with some supported titles. To mark the release of the PS4 Pro, all current PS4 units will also be able to support HDR imaging technology, which enables the reproduction of brightness and darkness while also realising a much wider range of colours, thus giving PlayStation gamers around the world a much more thorough and surreal gaming experience.

The PS4 Pro adopts the very similar body structure of the current PS4 but with a few new added features. One of which is an additional USB port located at the back of the console, topping off the two standard USB ports, which are located at the front. The PS4 Pro can now accommodate additional devices, including the PlayStation Virtual Reality system. Another new feature is an upgrade to the HDD, which now stands at 1TB instead of the usual 500GB found in the current PS4.

To add onto its release of the PS4 Pro is another release in the PlayStation family, a much slimmer and lighter version of the current PS4. Available from mid-October onwards at a retail price of RM1,349, the slimmer and lighter PS4 takes up 30% less space as well as weighing in significantly less compared to its predecessor thanks to the revamp of the internal architecture. It also sports the familiar block from the previous PS4 models but with its corners trimmed and edged, giving it a much softer impression as compared to the more boxed approach taken with the current PS4. This thinner and slimmer PS4 is available in two forms, mainly in 500GB and 1TB, which is priced at RM1,499To cap off the launch, Sony also introduces a host of new accessories to complement its two new consoles. Available in mid-October as well at a retail price of RM209, the new wireless Dualshock4 controller comes with an upgraded luminous touchpad to sync with the light bar, giving players added visual information when they’re busy gaming. Furthermore, the new Dualshock4 controller comes with USB communication on top of the current Bluetooth communication, which allows gamers to have more control via cable. Also releasing in mid-October is the new compact and cylindrical form of the PlayStation camera that inherits all the features available in the current model, including PlayStation VR support. Going for RM229, the all-new PS Camera now comes with a stand, which will allow users to adjust the camera angle as well as set it up in their preferred location. In regards to the new PS4 Pro as well as the slimmer and lighter PS4, a vertical stand is now also available from mid-October onwards at RM119 for the two new consoles.
