Sony Corp Names New President CEO

Kenchiro Yoshida returned to Sony in 2013 to assist President CEO Kazuo Hirai as Chief Financial Officer during its most troubled times, when the company has reporting loses every year. Having restructured and unloading of useless assets, Sony is refocused and aligned for steady growth in coming years.

Current leadership having since held the post since 2012, Kazuo will take on Director Chairman role leaving the operation in the capable hands of Yoshida come April 1st.

To this end, I have dedicated myself to transforming the company and enhancing its profitability, and am very proud that now, in the third and final year of our current mid-range corporate plan, we are expecting to exceed our financial targets. And it excites me to hear more and more people enthuse that Sony is back again.” – Kazuo

The news of Mr Hirai’s intent of stepping down came as a surprise after his remarkable role in turning the beleaguered tech giant around amidst tough competition and at times looked lost in the new internet economy. Gems like PlayStation and Sony Entertainment have been the saving grace for the Japanese giant which now looking to reshape itself around the two popular business division.
