The Sony α7iii is the latest in Sony Alpha Camera Lineup

Sony unveils its latest offering into its full-frame mirrorless camera lineup with the Sony α7iii. This is the latest addition to the growing Sony Alpha lineup that has been creating waves in the photography industry for the past few years.

What comes with the new Sony α7iii is a new 24.2-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor. It features increased sensitivity, better resolution and features 15 stops of dynamic range at low sensitivities.

The Sony α7iii also comes fitted with an all-new BIONZ X image processing engine, promising processing speeds of up to 1.8 times faster as compared to its predecessor, the Sony α7ii. The ISO range for the Sony α7iii is also improved, hitting the range of 100 – 51,200. The range increases even further, hitting ISO 50 – 204,800 for still images.

There is also a 15-stop dynamic range feature at low sensitivity settings. This ensures the overall performance of the camera at all settings and shooting conditions are improved tremendously. The addition of 4D FOCUS capabilities is another new feature in the Sony α7iii with 425 contrast points that work with a 693-point focal-plane phase-detection autofocus (PDAF).

This is the same PDAF system that can be found on one of the best Sony Alpha cameras, the Sony α9.

Speaking of the PDAF system, the Sony α7iii also comes with the Eye AF feature. This allows the camera to focus solely on its subject through the eyes, which is helping for moving subjects or models.

Thanks to the new image processing system, the Sony α7iii can shoot in full resolution at up to 10 frames per second (FPS). It can also shoot up to 8 fps in live view mode. Additionally, video recording is another feature the Sony α7iii is known for, offering 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) video recording. Full HD video recording is also available at 120 fps.

Much like the Sony α9, the Sony α7iii comes with dual media slots, with one of them supporting UHS-II type SD memory cards. You can now save your shots in JPEG/RAW recordings, separate still/movie recording, relay recording and more.The α7iii also promises up to 710 shots per charge, making it the longest-lasting battery in a mirrorless camera.
