The world is quite familiar by now with the sight of people walking into poles while on the phone, especially when AR game Pokémon Go was first released.
Now, there isn’t any other AR games that were quite as popular as Pokémon GO at the moment. However, tech designer Abhishek Singh has given a glimpse on how it would be if you were Mario.
Singh created a first person AR version of Super Mario Bros’ first level, and proceeded to take to the streets dressed as Mario to give his creation a test run. Considering he’s not using a mobile phone, but instead relies on Microsoft’s Hololens, it is quite dangerous. Especially when bits in Mario’s world tend to obscure the real world – so bumping into people or poles are still a concern.
While it isn’t a definitive look at what the game is going to be like, it showed the potential of other AR games. Although, the question of safety still remains and if AR is going to take off, there needs to be a more controlled approach to this.
Meanwhile, enjoy ths prototype of a very impressive replication of the levels in real life.
