Samsung has begun rolling out its latest One UI 6 update to users of the Galaxy S23 Series in Malaysia, with plans to progressively extend the update to other Galaxy devices.
One UI 6, based on Android 14, offers a more user-friendly experience, introducing a host of enhancements to Samsung’s apps and features. These include a streamlined design and expanded options for personalization, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to delivering a tailored and intuitive mobile experience.
Executive Vice President and Head of the Software Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, Janghyun Yoon, emphasised the user-centric approach of One UI, “Our mission with One UI is to reflect the unique preferences of our users in every aspect of their mobile experience. Every iteration of One UI responds to the needs of our user community, and we look forward to user feedback on One UI 6 as we create a richer, more intuitive experience for all.”

One UI 6 prioritizes simplicity and ease of access. The update features a refreshed design, including a new default font, One UI Sans, and more expressive emojis on Samsung Keyboard.
The Quick Panel has been reimagined with an updated layout, making it easier for users to access their most-used features.
Screen visibility adjustments are more convenient, with the brightness control bar readily available in the compact Quick Panel. Additionally, an instant access option to the full Quick Panel further enhances usability.
One UI 6 introduces several ways for users to personalize their Galaxy experience to align with their preferences and habits. For instance, users can set different lock screens according to specific Modes and Routines. A custom camera widget enables preselection of camera modes and storage locations. AI Edit enhances photo and video editing by recommending optimal AI editing features. The Samsung Studio simplifies the management of multiple videos and allows easy adjustments to decorative elements.
In terms of privacy and security, One UI 6 offers robust features. Auto Blocker allows users to control device usage by blocking advanced, rarely used features. Knox Matrix supports end-to-end encryption for synced data and cloud backup. Passkey streamlines app and website sign-ins for added security.
