Samsung has been hard at work innovating, and this time around they’ve come up with a new portable SSD at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The new Portable SSD T7 Touch comes equipped with AES 256-bit encryption and, get this, a fingerprint sensor. That’s right, an SSD, with a fingerprint sensor. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry because it’s… Genius? It’s quite literally a solution to physical security of potentially sensitive data in your SSD.

It also features a NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD) in three capacities; 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. And being an SSD, it’s meant for speed and has a read speed of 1050MB/s and write speed of up to 1000MB/s. That’s pretty fast if you ask me. The T7 Touch supports 2nd generation USB 3.2 and is going to be bundled with a USB-C to USB-C, and a USB-C to USB-A adapter for more compatibility and options for users.

Added to it’s portability, is the fact that it weighs only 58g, and supports pretty much all platforms including Windows, Mac, Android and game consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. The Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch should be available at end of this month, but no word on Malaysian availability as of yet. According to Samsung’s press release, the 500GB variant will go for CHF157 (~RM660), 1TB at CHF236 (~RM999), and 2TB at CHF449 (~RM1899).
