With the Samsung Galaxy Note8 taking all the limelight, Samsung brings back an old fan favourite, the Samsung Galaxy Note Fan Edition (FE). For the uninitiated, the Galaxy Note FE is an upgraded Samsung Galaxy Note 7, but with a few new improvements.
The first would be to its battery, which was the Note 7’s ultimate demise. In the Galaxy Note FE, it features a new and improved 3,200mAh battery. It passes Samsung’s 8-point safety check, as well as meeting the safety standards of relevant industry and regulatory bodies. This gives Note users a peace of mind that history will not repeat itself.
The Galaxy Note FE will also feature an upgraded processor, to be exact, an Exynos 8890 octa-core. It will also come with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage. If that isn’t enough, you can upgrade to 256GB via microSD.
The design of the Galaxy Note FE is a throwback to the original Note 7 with a home button, which is unheard of for 2017. It has a 5.7-inch Quad HD Dual edge Super AMOLED display screen, ensuring you get the deepest blacks and better colour reproduction than the former.
When it comes to the camera, the Galaxy Note FE will feature only a single camera at the back, which is a dual pixel 12-megapixel shooter with OIS and f/1.7 aperture. The front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with f/1.7.
Coming along for the ride will be the S Pen, which is a staple feature for Galaxy Note devices. Much like the S8 and Note8, the Galaxy FE will now come with a biometric security upgrade, which is the iris and fingerprint recognition. Bixby will also be available for the Galaxy FE.
Both the Galaxy FE and the S Pen has an IP68 rating, making it resistant to both dust and water and with a maximum depth of five feet for up to 30 minutes.
Available from 25 October 2017 at all Samsung Experience Stores and authorised dealers, the Samsung Galaxy Note FE will retail at RM2,599. It will be available in two colours: Black Onyx and Coral Blue.
