Well well well, it looks lik Samsung hasn’t sold a million Galaxy Fold units after all. Or that’s what they say anyway. After Samsung Electronics’ President Young Sohn reportedly shared the 1 million sales milestone at TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin last week, Samsung have now come out to deny the claims.

According to a spokesperson from Samsung contacted by Yonhap News Agency, Sohn could have confused the figure with the initial sales target for the year. They also went onto to reaffirm that the Samsung Galaxy Fold hasn’t reached 1 million units.

Samsung initially reported that they were expected to sell 500,000 Galaxy Folds globally in 2019. Even industry analysts predicted 400,000 to 500,000 units this year. So with this denial, we don’t really know exact figures for how many Folds have ‘folded’ into the customers pockets.

But even then, I wouldn’t doubt that they’ve sold quite a bit anyway. Mainly because it was one of the first to come to market, and customers have shown interest in the product, as even in Malaysia the Fold sold out during the pre-order period. But one thing’s for sure, whatever or however much they actually sold, they’re not stopping here with their foldable devices.
