Well sort of..

Remember the good ol’ days where phone batteries lasted more than a freaking day? Ok fine, maybe that’s a wee bit too long ago. What about the days where smartphones had removable batteries, remember that? Good times, I have to say. I’m sick and tired of having to head on over to the nearest iFix and overpay someone to change my iPhone battery.

Anyway, Samsung is rolling back the years with the unveiling of its Galaxy XCover Pro, a mid ranged rugged phone made to withstand the harshest of weathers, which explains why it’s only expected to launch in Finland. The device comes with what you’d expect from a Samsung phone in this day and age, a 6.3 inch 1080 display an in screen fingerprint scanner, and a punch hole selfie camera. What makes this device so damn special is of course, the military grade chassis with a 4050mAh removable battery. That’s right folks, the Chuck Norris of phones has arrived. The phone is perfect for when you go camping or hiking as the screen is glove and wet hands friendly, with two programmable buttons to help you avoid poking helplessly at the display. That’s right, physical buttons on a phone, what great memories :’)

In terms of what’s under the hood, lets get one thing straight: This is not a flagship device. As such, the device comes with an unspecified 2GHz octa-core chip, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Not too shabby, really. In the camera department, the phone sports a dual camera setup on the back consisting of 13MP and 8MP cameras and a 25 megapixel shooter on the front, because you know, selfies are important.

As previously mentioned, the phone will be available only in Finland beginning on the 31st of January and will cost €499 (RM2267). If the nostalgia has taken over you and you’re serious about getting your hands on the device, odds are you’ll have to import the phone straight from Finland. Goodluck.
