When we first laid our eyes on the Gear VR headset at the recent Samsung Galaxy 6 launch here in KL, we were feeling like kids again- its a toy we would like to take back home. But the Gear VR is no toy, trying it on for the first time with the Galaxy S6, we were floored the way the contents appeared on the device. It was so immersive, felt as though we were inside the game running and jumping, while being chased by large ape like monsters. Still no childs play,we bet the application for VR is going to be explosive once they go commercial and when developers start building contents for industrial usage. Imagine medical, architecture, city planning the list can go on.

As desirable as it may be Samsung Malaysia has yet to announce any release dates for the Gear VR (not sure if they will) incidentally Samsung US has made it available for pre-order from 24th April on Best Buy’s website. Customers can also pick it up Samsung’s online store and Best Busy site or their retail store on May 15 onwards the previous model was sold for US$199, pricing for the latest edition has yet to be revealed.

Locally if you’ve already purchased the S6 or S6 Edge the Gear VR is a perfect addition as the 577ppi resolution on the S6 will be mind blowing with the VR. Lets just see if Samsung Malaysia feel our love for the headgear.
