Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. proudly announces the attainment of the ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ certification from the prestigious Carbon Trust for 10 models across three key product groups—refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners.
The certification, based on the global standard PAS 2050:2011, signifies the successful measurement and confirmation of carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of the products. The certification is a testament to Samsung’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the pursuit of a decarbonized future.

Samsung Electronics EVP and Head of R&D Team of Digital Appliances Business, Jeong Seung Moon, expressed the significance of this achievement, stating, “Receiving the Product Carbon Footprint certification for our home appliances is a significant milestone. It underscores our dedication to reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a greener future.”
The Carbon Trust, a renowned global climate consultancy, operates with the mission to expedite the transition to a decarbonized future. The organization, founded in the UK and operating globally, follows international standards in certifying products’ carbon footprints.

Samsung’s certification is based on the cradle-to-grave footprint, considering the entire greenhouse gas emissions of a product, from raw material extraction and manufacturing to distribution, usage, and final disposal.
The certification encompasses a total of 10 models, including three BMF refrigerator models and one WindFree™ residential air conditioner model available in Europe, along with six Bespoke Grande washing machine models sold in Korea.
Looking ahead, Samsung Electronics plans to leverage the certified figures to effectively manage and evaluate carbon emissions in the production of successor models within these specified product groups. This commitment reflects Samsung’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into its business practices and contribute to a more environmentally conscious industry.
