It Has Begun; Robots Are Taking Over South Korean Hospitals And Restaurants

Have we learned nothing from the Terminator movies? or I,Robot? Okay, I’m not saying I’m against robots, but AI does scare me a little. Especially if you give the the ability to learn and register new info as it goes. What if it knows too much?

I hope you can programme them to always stay good though. Cause we don’t want our own creation to be the cause of our demise.

Anyways, LG has been pretty busy lately. They’re demonstrating with its new generation of robots that such technology can fill in for humans in public places where Covid-19 tends to circulate more.

For example, robots in hospitals can distribute prescription drugs or serve dishes in restaurants and hotels . In South Korea, such services are currently being tested. Wow.

In one way, it’s good that these sophisticated robots are able to interact with humans cause it’s lessening the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The LG CLOi ServeBot range can carry and deliver food and goods in an autonomous, hygienic fashion.

The National University Hospital in Seoul, one of the largest in the country, is currently using such robots. Their mission is to collect and deliver material, whether it is blood samples, prescriptions or medication, to patients.

Have you always wanted a robot to take and serve your orders? In restaurants, these types of robots can serve an entire table thanks to their four drawers which can carry up to 20kg. They’re also programmed to bring back the used plates to the kitchen.

Use of these robots greatly reduces interactions between waiters and clients and as someone has been both customer and server, with this robots, less feelings will get hurt. Maybe. At least from the server’s side.

In hotels, these robots can also deliver what clients have ordered online or by phone directly to their rooms, without risking virus transmission. Seoul’s Konjiam Resort already uses these automated servers.

As Covid-19 continues to paralyse many sectors, particularly in the tourism sector, these robotic solutions may very well become more prevalent globally.
