The headquarters and Southeast Asia Regional Office of Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) joined hands and invested RM100k on SK Sungai Melut (A), Dengkil, to upgrade the school and run environmental activities at the school from 30 October to 2 November 2023.
The joint effort aims to promote carbon neutrality and foster a greener future through various educational and environmental activities.
The collaboration, which follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Carbon Neutral Cooperation between the two organizations, emphasises the importance of global social contributions and environmental sustainability.
K-eco’s initiative involves implementing waste management strategies, pollution control measures, energy conservation practices, and the development of renewable energy sources.
The programme at SK Sungai Melut (A) will involve the installation of air conditioners and smart TVs to enhance the students’ learning environment.
Additionally, the school will receive modern scientific equipment for both indoor and outdoor use, creating a more engaging atmosphere for academic exploration.
Volunteers from both organizations will engage the students in interactive sessions, including the construction of vehicles from recycled materials, workshops on waste management, and lessons on renewable energy.
The students will also participate in eco-bag-making activities to encourage the reduction of disposable products.
Reflecting on the partnership, the Group Chief Executive Officer of MGTC, Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor, emphasised the significance of collective efforts in tackling the challenges posed by climate change. Encouraging employee engagement in community initiatives, he underscored the importance of collaborative work in preserving the environment, fostering economic resilience, and promoting social well-being.
The collaboration between K-eco and MGTC serves as a testament to the shared commitment of both organizations to environmental sustainability and the advancement of educational opportunities for the younger generation.
