The Fujifilm X-E2 is a new compact system camera that offers a number of significant improvements over its predecessor. How so? Read on to find out and learn if it could become your traveling buddy.
Retro Much?
Nowadays, vintage looks has already becoming a ‘thing’. So, for those who are into retro style, you’re going to love the X-E2 as it features a classic body design that will remind you of film cameras. Apart from that, it exhibits a meshing of both analogue exposure controls along with intelligent automated technologies. Due to its miniature size, you can also bring this camera almost everywhere without thinking about the weight. In short, it’s a fun photo-taking device to use and you can carry it all day any body aches occurring after.
Limitless Options
Performance wise, X-E2 is not that bad. Do bear in mind that the menu layout may take a little getting used to but once you’re on board, it feels natural. One thing I like is the amount of customisation that is available, where a single press of the ‘Q’ button on the rear will open up a grid of adjustable options. Simply use the rear thumbwheel to cycle through them. It also features digital filters for you to boost your creativity.
Lengthy Use
Battery life for the X-E2 appears to be good as it lasted the day with my random photo-snapping. This is even when the shutter re-adjusts every time it refocuses. What I don’t fancy is having the camera go through the re-focusing process between shots when the shutter is half pressed. It slows down the shot times whenever I am in hurry for that magical moment.
Sharing is Caring
On a side note, the X-E2 includes a WiFi button that lets you transfer high quality photos or movies to smartphones, tablets and computers for easy sharing on social media sites. It’s not something that I will go crazy for but why not. Basically, all you have to do is to download the free dedicated ‘FUJIFILM Camera Application’, connect it to your smart device, and start sharing.
