Review: Edifier RT1600T III

Review by Andrew Yew

Catering to more discerning tastes, the R1600T III from Edifier is part of the brand’s higher-end Studio range of audio products. Departing from the usual black paintjob, the sides of both speakers are wooden panels, while the middle is a powdered light gray – a look that I like very much. Edifier mentions that the enclosure is 100% MDF wood, which is meant to minimise acoustic resonance. The front mesh is detachable but is not loose or flimsy.

Assembly Required
Setup is really simple as you just need to connect the left and right unit together via a cable, and use the bundled RCA cable to connect to your device. For your information, the R1600T III has dual RCA inputs, making for easy connectivity to multiple audio sources. Cable management isn’t a major issue, considering the easy assembly.

I Wanna Rock…
… but I’d rather not pump up the volume, lest my colleagues start pelting me with random stationery. Connecting it to a smartphone and playing Spotify through it proved to be quite a wonderful experience, with satisfying audio quality and warm tones overall. The controls would be better if they were positioned inward rather than outward though.
