Review: Asus ROG G752VY Pricey But Rocks

vPluwIEfySuzBP29_setting_000_1_90_end_500Being a proud owner of an Asus ROG laptop as well (four years and still counting) , I could literally feel my heart skipping a beat when the ROG G752VY gaming notebook was brought into our lair. That joy was further escalated when I was chosen to do the review because of my superior writing skills mixed with my sub-par gaming ability (self-praise is definitely praise for me in this context).

Weighing in at a whopping 4.4kg, the G752VY is a behemoth that is just putting it lightly. Although it looks menacing at first glance, this beast of a gaming notebook puns like a kitten the moment you turn it on.

Gargantuan God of Gaming

Gaming on the G752VY made me feel invincible, but once the honeymoon period was over, I realised I’m actually playing a multiplayer game online and everyone else around me has no life. I’d like to say I’m lagging in game but that would disgrace the name of Asus. That is the thing about the G752VY, you will never experience any spikes or lags, no matter how much the game graphics demand.

Turbines or Ventilations

Asus does not mess around when it comes to proper ventilation on its ROG laptops; since its first series of gaming laptops, Asus has always ensured its design for ventilation is top-notch. One of the features introduced in the G752VY is the unique thermal design that directs dust into a dust-release tunnel while keeping it away from the internal components.

Now you don’t have to worry about cleaning the cooling fans every other week as there will be less dust particles in the laptop. This also helps to extend the lifespan of the components while also enhancing the laptop’s overall stability.

Key-ping it Cool

When it comes to gaming for me in particular, I have never been a fan of utilising the keyboard provided. Instead, I would always prefer pugging in my own external keyboard seeing as most of the time as it provides more comfort without any misshapen keys. If you happen to read my previous reviews regarding keyboards, I am exceptionally biased towards mechanical keys, for obvious reasons.

However, the G752VY has changed my perspective on keyboards installed in gaming laptops. It’s anti-ghosting keys have helped me a lot especially in dire situations where my entire team decided to feed themselves to the enemy, leaving me to fend for myself. It’s ergonomic design has only 2.5mm of travel, giving itself a quicker response time while allowing you to incinerate your enemies with your words.

Smooth as Silk

Whether it’s Skyrim, Diablo III, The Division, Dota 2, Overwatch, or any other game for that matter, the G752VY can handle whatever you throw at it and still come out strong. All this is due to the NVIDIA G-SYNC display technology, which synchronises the refresh rate of the display screen – which is a 17.3″ IPS FHD, mind you- with the NVIDIA GTX GPU for a visually stunning and immersive gameplay experience. Frame rate stutters are reduced to the bare minimum, visual tearing is virtually non-existent, and lag will be a thing of the past when it comes to gaming on this beast.
