Having a PC at the desk can be a messy affair; though it can all be made better with the new Acer Aspire S24. There are a lot of cables going everywhere and sometimes even when cable management is put in place, sooner or later it’ll be tangling over each other again. A notebook might help with situations like these, but sometimes having a large display is necessary, an aspect portable system do not really provide. This is where Acer comes in with its next-gen All-in-One (AiO).

What it does is address the crowd that truly appreciates an AiO PC. After all, just one cable that leads to the machine is needed. Most of all, an AiO – simply put – looks bulky and is very heavy. It also tends to dominate the entire desk. Not so with the Acer Aspire S24 as it turns that philosophy. Hallelujah!

Light Heavyweight

It’s easy to assume that an AIO with a 24” panel will be hefty and hard to move around. That’s not really the case. Acer, somehow, made its next-gen AiO light enough for one person to manage. As much as I wanted to, I didn’t manage to weigh it to find out its gross weight. Even so, take heart of these words as solid that this Acer entry is supremely lightweight. Complementing this literal lightness, the new Acer Aspire S24 sports a nice minimalist look.

Acer packs in some rock-solid specs inside the base-unit that sits below the screen. Inside, there is an Intel 8th Generation Core i5-8250U CPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and built-in Intel UHD 820 graphics. For storage, there is the speedy 128GB SSD and robust 1TB HDD. Ports wise, the system features one USB 2.0 port; three USB 3.1 Gen1 jacks; and a HDMI Output. As for sounds, this AiO PC uses a specially tuned 2.1 stereo system. This makes it more than just a spec-out multimedia powerhouse.

Aura Power

For those who need to recharge their smartphone while using the PC, Acer has their back. Instead of looking for a cable, Acer offers the option to wireless charge it via its built-in Qi charger. Indeed, the Acer Aspire S24 plays up the wire-free setting further! Indeed, all users need to do is place their smatphone on the base-station of this AiO and it will charge the mobile device automatically. That is, provided, the device comes with its own wireless charging function too.

Minimal Bezel

The Full HD 24” panel is also a sight to hold. As is, the bezel is minimal and makes the overall look feel really clean. Images are also crisp and sharp with great colour reproduction; this is great for graphic editors everywhere. There is one specific gripe: there are some light leakages at the bottom corner
when the screen is totally black. Also it can only tilted backwards and forwards; there is no up and down movement here.

Final Words

With the Acer Aspire S24, Acer has an AiO entry that is not only powerful, but manages to pull off the looks as well. The minimalist design looks great on any workdesk, as well as at home; add to the fact that the lack of wires, except for the power adaptor, means users can kiss goodbye to a messy desk. The presence of a HDMI input means that a videogames console can jack in and sit side-by-side with the AiO. This ensures users can easily switch between work or gaming with just one touch of a button. The speakers on board include a dedicated sub-woofer that plays decently. All in all, this is the ultimate AiO to consider.
