It is a dark day for Nintendo fans and gamers alike as one of the more likable presidents for a gaming company, Satoru Iwata, has passed away today due to complications stemming from a growth in his bile duct.
Formerly a programmer at HAL, a subsidiary of Nintendo, Iwata has contributed to the Earthbound, Balloon Fight and the Kirby series of games. In 2002, Iwata took over as President of Nintendo from longtime boss Hiroshi Yamauchi. During his tenure as President and CEO of Nintendo, he was responsible for the successes of both the Nintendo DS and the Wii console.

We here at PC.com would like to express our condolences to Nintendo for their loss.
