Reddit is introducing two new post types for subreddits where moderators can create event and collection posts. This will help users follow along the discussions centred around live events, breaking news and TV shows. Moderators can schedule posts ahead of time with event posts and add time information like start and end time. When the events start, users can follow the post. It’s a useful feature for upcoming events, such as TV shows or sporting events — particularly in subreddits like r/GameofThrones and r/RocketLeagueEsports, where the features have been in beta testing for the past several months.

Moderators curate and group relevant posts so that users can quickly read through the best ones with collection posts. Finding all the discussions centred around TV episodes or finding the best AMAs hosted in specific subreddits is easier. Events and Collections give users the option to follow the posts themselves without having to subscribe to the entire subreddit. Adam Barton, Reddit senior product manager said the features aim to make posts easier to navigate and more user-friendly for new users. “We want to lower the barrier,” he added.
