Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Under Quarantine After Being Close Contact With Covid 19 Positive Staff

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will under go a 14 day self quarantine at his residence after being in close contact with an officer who tested positive for Covid 19 during a post cabinet meetings 2 days ago.

Muhyiddin had gone for a Covid 19 tests which showed negative, however under the Security Act 304, the Prime Minister will have to be quarantined for 2 weeks to ensure there are no symptoms whatsoever. All those who attended the meeting have also been advised to quarantine themselves for 14 days.

This is the first time such an incident involving cabinet member and high profile candidate involving the Prime Minister himself has taken place in Malaysia since the first Covid 19 case was detected in February. In the statement issued by the PM’s office it stated that all meetings held in the Prime Ministers office are conducted with strict social distancing measures and follows MOH issued SOP’s.

A truly unprecedented occurrence with Malaysia recording low number of cases in the community yet Putrajaya the highest governing centre in the country is not immune to the virus. Muyhiddin now joins the elite club of nation leaders quarantined for Covid 19.
