DDR4 is the new predator indeed.

The introduction of the new X99 chipset and the Haswell-e Intel CPU that accompanies it has already introduce a unique innovation as we now officially moved from DDR3 to DDR4. It’s a real advancement over the older DDR3 that we have used for years and grown to love. With DDR4, the voltage is now lower, the density module is higher, and the clocks also is now higher, from 1600Mhz to 3200Mhz, a significant rise from the paltry 2400Mhz maximum of DDR3.

Quad Wonder
With the X99 chipset supporting quad channel, there is a rush to find quad-channel kits, something that I have in hand this time around. The kind folks from Kingston have been good enough to send us a quad-channel kit, namely the Kingston HyperX Predator 16GB DDR4 RAM. Since this is a quad channel kit, there are four 4GB sticks of RAM altogether. Wowie!

Predatory Prowess
The Predator naming is usually given to Kingston’s most high performing line of RAMs. Thus, it can be said the HyperX Predator does look the part. Enclosed in a black heatsink enclosure with high fins to help dissipate heat, it looks overly intimidating. The base clock of 2800Mhz, promises extreme performance speeds and easy overclocking. During my tests, I managed to safely push the RAM from 1.35V to 1.5V. Amazing indeed!
