In regards with the number of passengers allowed in each vehicle, Minister in charge of Security and Safety throughout Covid-19, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has clarified with the National Security Council on the matter.
Due to inquiries on the number of family members permitted in each vehicle, NSC eventually came up with new set of guidelines which will take effect starting May 27.
The decision is to allow based on the vehicle capacity as per the Transportation Act. If the car allows for 5 then five family members or members from the same household are allowed. For instance if the driver owns an MPV which can accommodate up to 7 people, then the vehicle can carry the stipulated number of passengers in the said vehicle.
This comes after road blocks along the highway saw cars with more than the 4 passengers permitted under CMCO, police had to use their discretion on the matter and most of the time allowed them to pass through.
