Two bros chilling in the cinema sitting five feet apart because they’re not gay ♪♪♪

Kuala Terengganu’s one and only cinema has implemented a policy separating men and women from sitting together, at the behest of PAS lawmakers. In conjunction with their re-opening on July 1, the cinema chain, Lotus Five Star released a statement informing the public of the new gender segregated seating arrangement. 

“Starting 1st July 2020, Kuala Terengganu’s cinema will implement a seating zone for men, women and families, as enforced by the Kuala Terengganu City Council government.” 

The cinemas manager, Zulmajdi Razali said the rule was placed “to enable all activities to follow Syariah law”, adding that cinema management will be keeping tabs through remote surveillance of audience members, as reported by Sinar Harian. 

The regulation applies to all movie-goers, Muslim and Non-Muslim. 

The Lotus Cinema in Kuala Terengganu is the first and only cinema in Malaysia to practise this policy but PAS members in the Pahang region have wasted no time in calling for a policy expansion. 

Sinar Harian reported that Pahang PAS commissioner, Rosli Abdul Jabbar will be proposing the Shariah-compliant, segregation policy to the state government for adoption throughout the state of Pahang.

“PAS will not hesitate to recommend positive measures to be implemented in Pahang… if the Pahang government agrees,” said Rosli. 

He said authorities should discourage free mingling between the genders to reduce social issues. Terengganu Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was reported saying that the state government will not relax the rules and guidelines despite pressure to do so.

Pahang is under Barisan Nasional (BN) rule while BN lynchpin, Umno is partnered with PAS. 

Okay, just a thought but does this feel like the first step in PAS’ plan for world domination? Am I the only one just a little uncomfortable with this blanket policy being applied onto everyone, regardless of their religious background?
