OPPO, the global smartphone brand, became one of the first smartphones to demonstrate their 5G capability during the launch of 5G Live Cluster Field Trial held by Celcom in Malaysia. Attended by Al-Ishsal Ishak, the chairman of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, the latest model from OPPO’s Reno series, showcased a download speed of 1.2Gbps, showcasing the phone’s 5G performance.
The fifth generation of mobile technology or 5G network has been a hot topic in the Malaysian tech space. Promising more than that just fast downloads, the coming in of the 5G network will unleash further potential in virtual reality, drone technology, telehealth and IoT (internet of things). Celcom, the nation’s leading service provider demonstrated the potential of their 5G network during the launch of Celcom’s 5G Live Cluster Field Trial.
“The coming in of 5G to Malaysia gives us the opportunity to innovate even further with smartphone technology and introduce the likes of VR and AR for everyday use. In collaboration with Celcom, we are excited to be a part of the 5G speed test and wish Celcom all the very best in introducing the latest in telecommunications to internet users in Malaysia,”said William Fang, CEO of OPPO Malaysia.
One of the first in the country to participate in a 5G speed test, the OPPO Reno 10x zoom recorded a download speed of 1.2Gbps.
“With 5G, we could see more new products and services come to live and make users life easier and faster, and mobile devices, especially mobile phone will be the main portal for users to control and connect to all the service. Hence, OPPO has built IoT team in 2019 which will focus on product and service focus on sports, healthcare and smart living which could be all connected through OPPO phone.,” said William Fang, CEO of OPPO
“OPPO is working closely with our partners like Qualcomm and Ericsson to make sure our 5G phone remain in best performance, OPPO is aiming to be the leading smart phone company in 5G era, and we will continue to explore the 5G application in different scenarios to provide a better experiences to our users.”
Once introduced, 5G networks will not only increase download speed but will also increase the speed with which devices connect and communicate with wireless networks. This means that Malaysians will be able to see a whole new spectrum of possibilities in areas such as autonomous or self-driving cars, better public infrastructure with advanced sensor technology that can predict traffic, drain floods and even improved healthcare and smart devices.
