OPPO Launches The F11 Pro; Goes All Out

Versatile portrait mastery and breakthroughs in Photography and user experience

OPPO Malaysia officially launched the OPPO F11 Pro today in a grand event that I can only describe as overkill. The launch had it all, from a hot air balloon to live performances to fireworks; they sure went all out. And for good reason too. The F11 Pro looks like a thing of beauty.

OPPO is bringing the F series to a whole new level—from Selfie Expert to Brilliant Portrait— featuring a 48-megapixel rear camera which they claim will provide users with an unprecedented night photography experience.

“The OPPO ‘F’ Series has been one of the most highly acclaimed product portfolios in Malaysia, and we are hopeful that the OPPO F11 Pro will take forward its legacy of innovation into the future and continue to offer consumers an incredible experience. The OPPO ‘F’ Series are best known for its camera innovation and capabilities. The phone builds on that legacy by delivering a breakthrough design, professional photography experience and performance innovations that will truly capture the essence of ‘technology meets art’.”

William Fang, CEO OPPO Malaysia

The phone also sports a brand new design, achieved by incorporating vibrant natural beauty into the F11 Pro by means of a gradient colour design. OPPO is actually the first smartphone manufacturer to create a triple-color gradient design, dubbed ‘Thunder Black’.

Sporting a 6.5′ FHD+ Panoramic screen, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen to body ratio of 90.9%, the display certainly looks formidable. Especially given the fact that the front camera is hidden, thus creating a notch-less design. I have my reservations about the pop up selfie camera though. More mechanisms at work means more things that could malfunction and even though OPPO claims to have tested the motor on the rising front camera to ensure it can operate 100 times a day for 6 years without fail, I am skeptical.

With both the software and hardware also optimized to prolong battery life, gaming performance and user experience, the phone sure talks the walk but can it walk the talk?! We’ll find out when we get our hands on a review unit. The phone is retailing for a mere RM1399, which screams value but also whispers shoddy manufacturing. Again, we will have to see for ourselves. With OPPO joining Huawei on the cheating hall of shame late last year, they’re going to have to make it up big time in 2019. This looks like a good start.
