Capcom Announces Onimusha Warlords Remaster for All Home Platforms

Resident Evil 2 Remake, Mega Man 11, Okami Remastered, and now an Onimusha remaster. Capcom is on a roll with bringing its catalogue of old games and series back for the modern audience. The company has announced Onimusha: Warlords for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on 15th January 2019.

Onimusha: Warlords throws players into a feudal world filled with magic, samurais, as well as demon warriors. It follows the story of samurai Samanosuke Kaechi and ninja Kaede. As mysterious demons invade Inabayama Castle, the pair must venture to save the princess Yuki from the evil lord Nobunaga.

This survival action game features sword-based combat and puzzle solving. As such, players must use careful creativity and wit to defeat the various demonic enemies in the game. For this remaster, Capcom will also add high-definition graphics, widescreen display, analog stick support, a new Easy Mode option, as well as a new soundtrack.

As the original game in the series, Onimusha: Warlords achieved worldwide success for its combination of thrilling action and cinematic story in 2001. Originally a spin-off of Resident Evil, the game eventually grew to become its own franchise. However, it fizzled out in popularity with the release of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2007.

The game will launch digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on 15th January 2019. Capcom will also facilitate a physical release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
