Forest Interactive Foundation, in collaboration with Axiata Foundation, has launched the Green Bean programme.
The program objective is to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and sustainability among the young generation.
This initiative, which took place in several primary schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, aimed to educate and engage students on crucial environmental issues and encourage their participation in conservation efforts.
The Green Bean programme, sponsored by Axiata Foundation, provided a platform for 10-12-year-old students to delve into a comprehensive two-day environmental education experience.
The curriculum included modules on fundamental environmental science, understanding climate challenges, sustainable practices, and advocating for environmental protection.
During the programme, students actively participated in various activities, including building solar-panel cars, learning about the circular economy, and engaging in the “Green Bean Innovation Challenge.”
They also had the opportunity to interact closely with nature at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its wonders.
Johary Mustapha, the Founder & CEO of Forest Interactive Foundation, emphasized the critical role of early environmental education in nurturing future leaders committed to preserving the planet.
“Environmental education starts from an early age,” he asserted, highlighting the importance of fostering a deep understanding of environmental conservation from an early stage in children’s lives.
Mohamad Kamal Nawawi, CEO of Axiata Foundation, emphasized the program’s role in developing children’s understanding of the environment and ecological balance.
“By introducing them to the impact of human activities on the environment, we can create awareness and a sense of urgency regarding environmental degradation,” he stated.
With a strong emphasis on achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Quality Education, Climate Action, and Partnerships, the Green Bean programme serves as a beacon of hope, igniting passion and action among the younger generation to secure a sustainable future for the planet.
