Nokia Has A New 5G Smartphone And It Doesn’t Look Very New

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, announced three new Nokia smartphones, including: the Nokia 8.3 5G which is the first 5G Nokia smartphone added to the portfolio, and is joined by the brand-new Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3. Low-key though, their devices are looking a tad dated and uninspired. Something I’d really expect from back in 2019 at the very least, but hey, I guess nothing wrong with the tried and true design? Just isn’t very exciting.

Nokia 8.3 5G

Out of the three, their Nokia 8.3 5G has to be top dog. HMD Global is making their way into the 5G market with their Nokia 8.3 5G which they promised to be the world’s first future-proof smartphone. This is mainly thanks to the Qualcomm 5G RF Front end module solution as part of its Qualcomm Modular Platform, and the Nokia 8.3 5G condenses more than 40 different RF components into a single module.

Other specs on the Nokia 8.3 5G is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G modular platform, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. It also comes with a 6.81″ FHD+ PureDisplay and a punch-hole design sporting a 24MP camera. On the rear, there’s a quad-camera setup of 64MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro sensor. Powering it all, is a 4500mAh battery.

The Nokia 8.3 5G starts at EUR 599 and will be available this summer.

Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3

The Nokia 5.3 comes with a quad camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Mobile Platform and 4000mAh battery. The AI-powered quad-camera helps capture the perfect shot, even in dim light, thanks to Night Mode. Wide-angle and macro lenses help capture close-ups, or wide, scenic shots. It also comes with a 6.55″ screen. The Nokia 5.3 costs EUR 189.

The Nokia 1.3 is the brand new Android 10 (Go edition) OS, and at a more accessible prie point than before. This will be among one of the first smartphones launching with Camera Go, as well as low-light AI image fusion technology, Gallery Go, and a HD+ edge-to-edge screen. This will also be one of the first phones to launch with Android 10 (Go edition) and features a 5.71″ HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and a 3000mAh battery. The Nokia 1.3 is pried at EUR 95.
