There is only one title in mind with the unveiling of Nokia Lumia 1020: the camera king is back! After all the teaser Nokia has been giving everyone, the 41-megapixel camera wonder is here. This is the only killer feature you will be looking at when thinking about Lumia 1020.
Return of 41MP
What users will be seeing here is the real PureView image-processing software at its best shape when it was first introduced in the form of Nokia PureView 808. Peeking inside the Lumia 1020’s camera, users will find six-lens Carl Zeiss optics, which also takes on wide angles. Aside from that it has 3x zoom, autofocus (manually focus, too), and a dual-flash system. Even better is users can utilise the entire shooter by capturing 1080p HD video at a rate of 30 frames per second.
The surprising thing here is how the company manage to make this smartphone thinner and lighter than Lumia 920. Yes, hard to believe but it is true. To put in more grip when taking pictures, the phone has a soft-touch coating unlike the glossy back surface seen on other Lumia phones.
Accompanying the beastly camera is Nokia’s Pro Camera settings. It boast controls allowing control freaks to easily navigate the options. This includes manual exposure settings and long exposure times. For those who doesn’t know how to work this wonder, the camera app also includes a tutorial.
So how do you really use its camera? Pretty simple, really. Whenever you take a picture, two images are automatically captured. This means you will get the remarkable resolution photo plus another 5MP version for you to share. If taking a whole picture is not what you want, why not zoom in real time? No, not those digital zoom that enlarge your pictures but real optical zoom up to three times. Nokia mentions that there will be no visible loss of clarity. PC.com definitely wants to test this out.
It’s a smartphone too
As a smartphone that supports 4G LTE, users will recognise the familiar 4.5in AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display (1280 x 768 pixels). For more usability outdoors, there is also Nokia ClearBlack filter on top. Not to worry as users will be getting the ultra-sensitive touchscreen that allows display to recognise touches even when users are wearing gloves.
Like other Windows Phone 8 out there, the specs are similar. Inside the Lumia 1020 is a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 32GB of internal storage. Like its brethren, there is no room made for expansion: bye bye microSD cards. It makes us wonder if this is enough to store all the pictures taken with its mammoth camera resolution.
