Mobile phone signals have their weakness, while network operators try their best to give customers the 100% coverage, lets face it there are areas that the signal has no strength to penetrate or reach. However, there is a technology that can solve this, as long as their is WiFi in the place or building and you have access to it. Its called WiFi Calling.

U Mobile is the first telecommunication company to jump on this technology offering WiFi calling service whereby customers will will be able to receive and make voice calls over a personal or public WiFi connection. Inadvertently making every connection in coffee places, homes and restaurant a U Mobile network tower…even when overseas.(more on this later)
Available for both prepaid and postpaid users, all they have to do is download the app on their iPhone, connect to a WiFi and will be immediately able to make the calls, be it in car parks or high rise buildings. Unlike VOIP, users can make calls using their existing numbers to another mobile phone, landline and even make IDD calls with no roaming charges if overseas. Solving the problems of indoor phone call making or areas where cellular strengths are weak or sometime non existence, is part of U Mobile’s initiative to ease customers grief while the operator awaits for the spectrum reallocation and roll out for better.
To get started, users need to ensure WiFi calling function on their iPhone us enabled and connected to the service, calls will be in HD Voice and can only support phones that has this feature and on an HD Voice enabled network. The service will soon be available for Android phones and SMS messaging will also be made possible.
